A surge of new retail outlets has led Horizon Group Properties to announce a major face lift for the Outlet Shoppes at Oshkosh that will be completed by June.
The 270,000-square-foot shopping center’s facade will undergo an upgrade that Horizon executives say will be in line with the demands of national retailers who have been leasing space in the center like its going out of style over the last few years. Included in the project are plans to construct a welcome center area near the Gap Outlet where the Oshkosh Convention and Visitors Bureau will be able to display tourism-related brochures and information just in time for the heavy tourism season.
The facade upgrade was announced Thursday morning and is a new wrinkle in a significant upgrade that began last year.
Facade improvements will complement the construction of a children’s play area and park in the center of the shopping complex and renovation to the public restrooms.
And none of this even touches on the Outlet Shoppes’ streak of landing big name retailers that’s been ongoing for better than three years. When the Fox Head store opens on April 18, it will become the latest success in a string of them includes Brooks Brothers, Christopher and Banks, Jockey, Maurices’, Justice, Nike, Under Armour and Yankee Candle.
Now here’s the little factoid that amid all of this that made Streetwise’s jaw drop: The Outlet Shoppes at Oshkosh attracts more than 2.5 million visitors each year. Wow! If the great roster of retailers the center continues to offer doesn’t catch your eye, the economic impact of 2.5 million shoppers (and we’re guessing a fair portion of them do not come from Oshkosh) annually surely will.
