Oswald, first elected in 2010, said he’s taking a lecturing job in Wuhan, China that starts next week.

“I wish the timing was different, but it’s a great opportunity to return to what I got my degree in with linguistics,” Oswald said. “I’ll be teaching post-doctoral students advanced writing.”

Oswald, a University of Wisconsin-Madison and Appleton North graduate, was a disability specialist with the Aging and Disability Resource Center.

A single candidate, Polly Dalton, has filed for the open aldermanic seat in the April election.
