Joe Kallas, the Democrat challenging U.S. Rep. Tom Petri for his Congressional seat, received an endorsement from the Alliance for Retired Americans. The organization represents more than 4 million retirees, including 89,316 in Wisconsin.
The endorsement letter commended Kallas for a ”strong commitment to improve the quality of life for older Americans.” The organization supports his positions on Social Security and Medicare and his belief in the need to provide more affordable health care for older Americans.
“I have always been a strong advocate for everyone who is retired in America,” Kallas said in a statement. “I will not let the Republicans take away the benefits that people have earned over a life time of work. When the Republicans refer to Social Security as an ‘entitlement’ program and want to privatize it, they are attacking anyone who is living on social security. If elected, I will fight to preserve our current Social Security program.”
