Candidate forums are coming your way, Oshkosh

Next week marks the first of several candidate forums for the Oshkosh area’s state Assembly and Senate races. If you’d like to find out more about candidates’ positions, you can check out any of these events:

Monday, Oct. 15: The League of Women Voters will co-sponsor a forum with Oshkosh CitiCable 10 and radio WOCT 101.9 FM, at Oshkosh City Hall, 215 Church Ave. At 6:30 p.m., 54th Assembly District candidates State Rep. Gordon Hintz and former Oshkosh Mayor Paul Esslinger will debate. At 7:30 p.m., 18th Senate District candidates State Sen. Jessica King will debate Fond du Lac City Council President Rick Gudex. At 8:30 p.m., 53rd Assembly District candidates Ryan Flejter and Michael Schraa will debate.

Thursday, Oct. 18: Candidates for the 55th Assembly District will debate: Rep. Dean Kaufert, Jim Crail and Rich Martin. Written questions will be accepted from the public. The debate will be at Neenah City Hall, 211 Walnut St., at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 25: The League of Women Voters of Winnebago County and LWV of Ripon will co-sponsor a forum for candidates for the 6th District Congressional District. Republican Rep. Tom Petrie will debate Democrat Joe Kallas.

Friday, Oct. 26: The Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce will present a debate for 18th State Senate District candidates between King and Gudex, from 7:30-9 a.m. It will be held at Robbins Restaurant, 1810 Omro Road, and will be broadcast live on WOSH Radio. Jonathan Krause will serve as moderator. To register, call the Oshkosh Chamber office at (920) 303-2266.

Wednesday, Oct. 31: The Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a debate for 54th Assembly District candidates between Hintz and Esslinger, from 7:30-9 a.m. It will be held at Robbins Restaurant, 1810 Omro Road, and will be broadcast live on WOSH Radio. Bob Burnell will serve as moderator. To register, please call the Oshkosh Chamber office at (920) 303-2266.

No word on whether the Oct. 31 debate will include Halloween costumes.
