Apparently no one wants Jef Hall’s council seat

It seems everyone’s jumping on the write-in candidate train with just two weeks away from the April 2 election.

Barring a major surprise, there are now six write-in candidates vying for one open seat on the council. Incumbent councilors Deb Allison-Aasby and Tom Pech Jr. are running for re-election and are the only two candidates who will appear on the April 2 ballot.

In contrast, the Oshkosh City Clerk’s office is still waiting for its first applicant interested in fulfilling the remainder of outgoing councilor Jef Hall’s term. Hall, you might remember, announced he was resigning his seat a week ago after he accepted a job with Google on the west coast.

Staff in the clerk’s office on Tuesday said no one has submitted an application to fill out the remaining year on Hall’s two-year term, which ends in April 2014.

The basic details of the process can be found here, while further details, the application and qualifications for the position can be found here.
