Oakwood teacher promoted to Washington Elementary principal

Susan Martin, an instructional support teacher at Oakwood Elementary School, has been hired as the new principal of Washington Elementary School.

Martin has taught for 10 years in the Oshkosh school district, previously serving as a third grade teacher at Jacob Shapiro Elementary School and as a literacy teacher at Perry Tipler Middle School.

Pending the school board’s approval at its July 10 meeting, Martin will replace Erin Kohl, who was recently hired as West High School’s new principal.

Martin is a certified non-violent crisis intervention instructor and has trained educators in the district in several related sub-fields.

Martin has a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi College and a master’s degree in school administration from Concordia University.
