Grace spent two nights away at a soccer camp at UW-Oshkosh and returned late Thursday evening.
She has been gone for sleepovers at friends’ houses, but she’s never been gone for that long of a stretch before.
While I missed her, thought of her constantly and hoped she was doing OK at her first overnight camp, I think someone missed her even more.
Lucas was suprisingly sad without his sister. He said that their math wizards class they take together at summer school wasn’t nearly as much fun without her. He talked about her at night, saying he was worried about her and hoped she wasn’t sad without us.
When she returned home, he was equally excited to see her, keeping her company while she was upstairs getting ready for bed and unpacking, giving her lots of hugs and kisses, telling her “I love you” and running little errands for her around the house.
They were excited to play together on Friday and over the weekend.
He genuinely was happy to have his sister back, and that made me feel so good.
It gives you reassurance amid the sibling arguments that they really do care about each other and love one another’s company.
