We’re so fortunate in the Fox Valley to have such tasty places to eat.
No matter what you are hungry for, you can always find something to satisfy whether it’s one of the many supper clubs with hometown Wisconsin feel, Victoria’s with its platters of food that fill you up for many meals to follow, egg rolls to die for at Cy’s Bistro or fish fries galore on Friday night. We truly have it all.
We’ve been branching out a bit with the family to try new flavors and to appreciate all that the Fox Valley restaurant scene has to offer.
With soccer friends who own Chicago Grill, we’ve got a built-in excuse to go there. While the kids love the burgers, it’s the Mediterranean offerings we prefer: gyros, falafel, hummus. It’s all so good.
A recent night out with friends was just the excuse we needed to check out a restaurant we all hadn’t been to before.
After much debate, we ended up at Basil Cafe in Appleton. Don’t be turned off by the exterior of the building, the real beauty is inside. The food was fantastic and so was the atmosphere. After feasting on calamari, crab rangoons, curry dishes and stir-fried noodles, we said we’d be back again.
With Ben, who has food allergies, gone on a recent night, we decided to check out another place we wouldn’t normally go with him around.
We got takeout from Mai’s Deli in Appleton for more curry dishes. We weren’t disappointed and will be back next time to try out the famous stuffed chicken wings.
Plus … you can’t go wrong with margaritas and enchiladas in a packed Solea Mexican Grill in Menasha or spending a summer night outside at Cannova’s in Neenah sipping on wine and filling up on a plate of pasta.
That reminds me. I need to try out Mojito’s and get back to Carmella’s soon.
