Even though it’s January and a new year and resolution time and all that, I’m all about the food lately.
It’s not the time to be all about the food, but I am. Definitely.
I’ve been trying to shake us a bit from our food routine with some new dishes. As always, there are hits and there are misses. The creamy risotto from a few weeks ago was a so-so hit. I’ll make it again soon.
Yesterday I made sweet potato pie that was a big-time hit. Benjamin came home from school recently raving about the pie one of his friends brought as part of a project and asking if I could make it. I did, and we all loved it. It’s sweeter than pumpkin pie and oh so good.
We’ve also had good food out. We made our first visit to Solea in Menasha with friends and had some of the best Mexican food and margaritas ever. It’s the cure for the wintertime blues!
We are heading out to Buca di Beppo this weekend, and I’m anxious to try that out, too. We ate there a few years ago but haven’t visited the new one in Appleton yet.
I’ve also been ramping up my Pinterest addiction lately, too, finding all kinds of recipes online to make me drool. There’s an avocado salad with toasted almonds and a poppy seed dressing that I’m dying to try.
I’m hoping February will be just as tasty as January. It will at least have more chocolate!
