We haven’t visited with the Santa at the Fox River Mall yet like we do every year, but we’ve seen the Santa at Whispering Pines, where we get our Christmas tree.
Even better, though, was calling Santa directly. That was big.
On Wednesday night a community Lions group — I believe it was Greenville, but I’m not sure — offered calls to Santa from 5 to 8 p.m.
Thanks to a reminder from a friend, we gave the number a try. And sure enough, it went right through to the North Pole. Mrs. Claus had to get Santa, but it didn’t take long.
Seeing Lucas smile the entire time was so worthwhile. He told Santa how he wants a stuffed animal that looks like Dusty and Butterscotch, the one he carries around the house and sleeps with, and talked about the snow.
And when Santa wished him a merry Christmas, it made me happy to hear Lucas say, “Merry Christmas to you, Santa.”
