Going through our own growing pains

I’m grateful for my sleep at night.

While we do wake up on occasion from a child getting up to use the restroom or to shut the windows during a rainstorm, for the most part we get a full night of sleep.

But lately we have been up with Lucas, who seems to be going through a bout of growing pains.

While Grace never experienced it, years ago Ben went through the same thing Lucas is going through now.

He’s had a bad stretch of it. I don’t know if it’s because it is summertime, and he gets a lot of exercise and runs around a lot or if there’s something more to it.

I went online to learn a little more and found out that it affects their muscles and usually comes at night after a full day of activity. It really doesn’t have much to do with growing, but that’s what it is associated with.

Either way, I feel bad for the little guy. When he wakes up, he cries and pleads with us to make the the pain stop. We’ve given him pain medication, rubbed his legs and had him crawl under the covers with us.

That seems to do the trick after a while, but those growing pains sure aren’t fun. I hope he grows out of them soon!
