Over the weekend Grace and her friend were debating which movie they wanted to see.
I had promised that we could head out to the theater and catch a new release, something we haven’t done in a while, but they couldn’t decide between “The Croods” and “Oz the Great and Powerful.”
I had been secretly hoping they would pick Oz because that’s what I’ve been wanting to see since hearing how good it is. But since my kids haven’t seen “The Wizard of Oz” yet, I wasn’t too hopeful that they ultimately would pick the prequel to that one.
And I was right. Grace and her friend chose “The Croods,” something Lucas also wanted to see.
We went on opening weekend, and the theater was packed. I hadn’t seen many previews of the movie and didn’t really have too many expectations.
Maybe that’s the way to go.
The movie was absolutely hilarious and entertaining. The characters were likable, laugh-out-loud funny, and the scary parts were kept to a minimum. I loved it and so did the kids. The other theatergoers must have felt the same because many applauded at the end of it. Always a good sign!
Plus … we had theater popcorn, which is such a rare treat, and saw a bunch of previews for movies, including “The Smurfs 2″ and “Despicable Me 2,” that will be out this summer.
And now I can’t wait for outdoor movie theater season.
I’m off next week for spring break so check back in on April 8. Happy Easter!
