Catching the spirit with holiday movies

Over Thanksgiving weekend we broke out the first of what I hope will be many holiday movies.

We watched “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” for the first time as a family, and the kids laughed as much as I thought they would. We went back and forth about allowing them to watch and finally agreed that they could. There’s some bad language, but we talked about that beforehand, and it’s not much different than “Christmas Vacation.” The message is solid, and there are plenty of giggles along the way.

The kids’ favorite is still “Christmas Vacation” so that likely will be up next on our movie lineup. And my vote will be for “Elf” after that.

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without the traditional “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Frosty the Snowman.” Last year Lucas got the Jim Carrey version of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” so we’ll be checking that one out, too.

I’m kicking myself for not buying “The Year Without a Santa Claus” when I saw it for $5 at a store. I thought we had that one in our collection, but we don’t. The Heat Miser and Snow Miser are such a kick.

What’s on your holiday movie lineup?
