A reader called this week asking about large evergreens arranged in a circle at Peabody Park. Could it be aliens? Santa?
Nope. After some investigative reporting at the scene, and an email to parks director Dean Gazza— the mystery was solved: a wedding will take place there Saturday.
The trees are located along the Fox River near the intersection of E. North Street and N. Green Bay Road surrounding a bench.
Gazza emailed that the pair getting hitched are “big nature advocates” and a local pastor helped arrange 30 Christmas trees from curbs that will serve as wind block during the ceremony.
After the 12:30 p.m. event, the pastor will pick up the trees and recycle them.
