A meeting scheduled for Thursday that was to include a presentation about the sale of drug paraphernalia in Appleton stores has been postponed.
The city’s Safety and Licensing Committee was set to meet at 5 p.m. at City Hall, but it was cancelled due to a lack of quorum, according to Alderman Mike Smith, who chairs the committee.
Several aldermen assigned to the committee couldn’t appear due to conflicts. Four other committees were cancelled this week.
A number of aldermen are out of town due to Appleton schools’ spring break. Tuesday’s spring election is also sure to shake up the council’s committee assignments.
The safety panel will meet in special session at 6 p.m. April 2 to take up pending action items, such as granting liquor and event licenses.
Smith said the drug paraphernalia discussion and further debate on “pedal pubs” would be held at the next regular meeting on April 10.
