Lose a terrace tree in the storm? City can help

The August tornadoes in the Fox Valley meant about 400 trees on Appleton streets were damaged and the city is ramping up replacement efforts.stormtree

Terrace trees are inventoried by the city’s public works department. Crews are grinding out stumps and hope to replace all 400 trees this spring, said Paula Vandehey, the public works director.

Residents looking to ensure they’re on the list for replacement can call public works at 832-6474.

Vandehey said the Timber Rattlers broken bats program will help with the cause. The city expects the team to contribute about $3,000 through the program that makes a donation for every bat broken by Timber Rattlers at home games. Team officials say 54 bats were broken this year.
