Houdini work means lane closure

Work continues downtown on the reconstruction at Houdini Plaza.

Next week, the east lane of Appleton Street will close, allowing crews to install new utilities at the site.Houdini

Steve Palidini, field engineer with The Boldt Company, said the center wall of the plaza’s new fountain has been poured along with the rear wall of the new performance stage.

Crews spent this week clearing the site and removing old brick pavers.

Dean Gazza, Appleton’s director of parks, recreation and facilities, said the old pavers were unusable and were scrapped.

Paladini said footings for a new dumpster enclosure in the site will be laid out and excavated this week.
