Jennifer Stephany, executive director of Appleton Downtown, Inc., said the group plans to host 40 to 50 vendors on Wednesday nights from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Washington Square.
“We’re looking to use the grassy space where the Washington Square building was torn down,” Stephany said. “We’ve had some conversations with the city, but would still have to get a farm market license.”
If approved by the council, Stephany said the market would begin June 4 and run through September.
“We had a lot of local producers that were hoping to get in and we have a waiting list on Saturday,” Stephany said. “It will likely be a mix of some of the Saturday favorites and a few new faces.”
Stephany said the programming will be funded in part by a new $12,000 grant from the state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.
