Free community event to welcome piano to Appleton Public Library

A dedication and open house takes place Sunday at the Appleton Public Library to celebrate the arrival of the library’s new grand piano.

The free community event runs from 2 to 4 p.m. in the lower level of the library, 225 N. Oneida St., downtown Appleton. It features live music.

The event’s performance and program schedule is as follows: 2-2:30 p.m., Bruce Koestner, pianist; 2:30-3 p.m., Steven Spears, tenor, and Linda Sparks, pianist; 3-3:15 p.m., piano dedication ceremony; 3:15-3:45 p.m., John Harmon, pianist; and 3:45-4 p.m., open mic.

The Fox Valley Music Teachers Association (FVMTA) has partnered with Heid Music to fundraise for and place the piano. The library will serve as a free performance space for music recitals, concerts and music-related community programs.

The library is online at www.apl.org.
