Fox Valley Symphony announces change in plans for season finale concert’s guest artist

The Fox Valley Symphony has announced that due to a minor injury, guest artist and pianist Claire Huangci is unable to perform Saturday during the ensemble’s season finale concert.

Joining the Fox Valley Symphony as guest artist for the concert is pianist Brenda Huang of Chicago. Huang, a member of the piano faculty at the Chicago Institute of Music, won the 1991 Gilmore Young Artist Award. She has performed throughout the United States and in Europe and Taiwan.

“Inspirations” begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in downtown Appleton.

A pre-concert talk with Fox Valley Symphony music director Brian Groner and concertmaster Yuliya Smead begins at 6:40 p.m. in the PAC’s Kimberly-Clark Theater. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Huang will perform Schumann’s Piano Concerto, op. 54, A minor. Also on the concert’s program are Wagner’s Overture to Die Meistersinger and Schumann’s Symphony No. 2, op. 61, C major.

Ticket prices range from $29-$59. Student tickets cost $10 the day of the concert. Music teachers receive one free ticket.

Tickets are available for purchase in advance at the PAC’s box office at 920-730-3760. They’re also available at the door.
