Album Release Party - 19 April 2014

Sly Joe and the Smooth Operators are hosting a CD release party for their fifth album, “Miles and Miles to Go,” on Saturday, April 19 at Becket’s in Oshkosh.

The Fox Valley band, started in 2006 by singer/songwriter Joe Slyzelia (aka Sly Joe), has built a positive reputation on their earthy, funky, soulful originals. Besides releasing their new album at the event, the band will also premiere their first ever music video for their new single, “I’ve Been Found.”

“Making a new album is always super fun,” Slyzelia said. “I’m very fortunate to live in the Fox Valley, where so many music lovers support the creation and delivery of new music. … The video was a big risk logistically, getting all the actors and crew onboard, and financially; it’s more money than I’ve ever spent to promote the band, but big risk means big excitement.”

Slyzelia, who has had songs featured on NBC shows such as “Friday Night Lights” and “Parenthood,” claims to have written circa 300 songs; 14 of those will appear on the new album.

The event begins at 8:30 p.m. with opening performances by The Waters Bros and Jacob Fannin before Sly Joe and the Smooth Operators take the stage. For more info, visit
