MKTO put their acting careers on hold to focus on making tunes.
Malcolm Kelley and Tony Oller are MKTO: an emerging California-based pop/hip-hop act hitting KISS FM Summer Slam at Darboy’s Chickenfest June 22. MKTO is one of five national artists and two local artists privileged enough to grace this year’s Summer Slam stage.
It’s another step for Kelley and Oller, who started their entertainment careers in the acting circuit, before meeting on TeenNick show “Gigantic” in 2010. Kelley (MK) and Oller (TO) played best friends on the show and as fate would have it, that would translate into real life. While hanging out in their downtime, the two began writing music and uploading videos to YouTube and according to Kelley, it was a cog that would eventually lead to their signing with Columbia Records.
“I think it was just kind of organic the way it came about,” Oller said. “We played best friends on the show and we really just had a lot of passion for music. We have this great opportunity right now and we’re just going with it, working our butts off for it.”
Kelley and Oller also co-wrote their radio single “Thank You,” which currently has 4 million-plus views on YouTube.

As for their acting careers, it’s on hold for now, except for a “little part” for Oller in surprise blockbuster “The Purge.” Instead, the two are focusing on music and just being themselves for a while.
