The five-piece Appleton rock outfit competed in this year’s Hard Rock Rising global battle of bands competition in Chicago and has reached the top 96 of 941 competing bands.
To advance yet again, Boxkar must compete in an online vote. To vote for Boxkar, visit VoteForBoxkar.com. Online voting ends tomorrow (May 1).
In a final effort to get more votes, Boxkar, along with KIND program leader DeAnna Doersch, will do a meet and greet/acoustic performance today (April 30) at Subway in Neenah (1155 Winneconne Avenue).
The event will be held from 5 p.m.-7 p.m.
About Boxkar/Hard Rock Rising:
Following several battle rounds against Chicago’s top talent, Boxkar moved on to the global voting round to vie for the grand prize which includes a world tour in six cities arranged by Hard Rock International including a spot on the bill at the Hard Rock Calling festival in London, an album and music video produced through Hard Rock Records and new music equipment and gear valued at $10,000.
The top 25 bands, as determined by total votes, will move on to the final round, where a panel of music industry professionals will evaluate each band and select the grand prize winner and two-runner up bands.
KIND is a campaign started by DeAnna Doersch at Neenah High School to bring the students together and create an environment which fosters support and acceptance. In early April of 2013 Boxkar nominated DeAnna and KIND for a very special award given by one of Hard Rock Café’s Philanthropic Partners, Peace First. DeAnna has made it to the semi-finals in the competition! The KIND campaign will become REVIVE and DeAnna is making this her life’s work. DeAnna will be attending DePaul University in Chicago this fall. For more information, watch the video below.
