Last night, the surviving members of Led Zeppelin made a rare appearance on late-night TV, having a seat for an interview on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” The snarky snarks of the internet have already begun to complain about how boring it was, because apparently everyone expected some sort of ultimate hammer of the gods four-hour live set of classics and rarities with amazing special guests, a flaming bow and a Coachella announcement.
But, alas, it’s 2012, these chaps are well into their 60s, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones simply had a chat with Letterman to promote their new concert film, “Celebration Day.”
So for those hoping Letterman had a get-the-Led-out surprise in store, you’ll just have to settle for watching their 2007 performance on DVD or Blu-ray. After all, that’s why they were there in the first place.
