Nobody is out in the music world waving a Wisconsin flag moreso than Eau Claire native Justin Vernon and his band/entity Bon Iver. The dude’s climbed from a dairy state cabin to an indie darling to a Grammy-winner and “Saturday Night Live” guest in about five years. All this while boasting a tattoo of his home state on his pale neck.
The next stop on Bon Iver’s campaign to bring soothing, wintry harmonies to the masses will come on Oct. 13 with a performance on the PBS series “Austin City Limits.” The show’s 38th season begins the week prior with Radiohead, and the continues on with Bonnie Raitt and Mavis Staples, the Shins and Dr. Dog, the Civil Wars and Punch Brothers and more. You can check out the schedule here.
As a little teaser for the upcoming Bon Iver episode, here’s the group’s performance of “Towers,” off of their 2011 self-titled album.
