If there’s anything good about the weekend ending and another Monday somehow sneaking up on us despite the same thing happening every seven days since the beginning of time, it’s the wave of new and music that comes with the rebooting of the news cycle. Today has been no different, as French indie rockers Phoenix came back from what seems like years of hibernation to release a new single, “Entertainment.” The band’s new album, “Bankrupt!” will be released April 23 and this is the first taste we’ve had. Will they be able to follow up the hugely successful “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix”? It’ll be difficult, but the headlining gig at this year’s Coachella can’t hurt. Here’s the new track:
Also this morning, coinciding with a Reddit AMA, Atoms for Peace has put their album “AMOK” up in full to stream on their website. Atoms for Peace, you ask with a scrunched up face? Yes, it’s the band composed of Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, drummer Joey Waronker and Brazilian percussionist Mauro Refosco. Rolling Stone has already tweeted that it’s the “warmest, grooviest album Thom Yorke has ever made.” “AMOK” arrives Feb. 26.
Stream the album here. (The site has been a little overloaded at times today, so be patient.)
