Cory Chisel releases ‘In the Deep End’ single

readymade2_photo_gal__photo_391415627_lrLost amid the holiday shuffle was the release of a new(ish) single on iTunes from Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons. “In the Deep End” arrived Dec. 18 on the iTunes store and can be purchased for $.99.

Here’s the song at the iTunes store.

I say the song is new(ish) because it’s a re-recorded version of the track that appeared on 2004′s “Again from the Beginning,” much like the repurposed “Over Jordan” which found its way onto Chisel’s 2012 album “Old Believers.” “In the Deep End” also was among the songs Chisel recorded for his vinyl-only “Upstairs at United” release in 2011.

Here’s a live performance of the song that’s up on YouTube, filmed during the 2010 Glastonbury festival. The video also gives new meaning to the Wandering Sons moniker.

Chisel is currently finishing up a short run of shows supporting Justin Townes Earle and will head to Australia in February for a handful of dates.
